By Nelson Egware
When Friday Osanebi sought to represent the people of my maternal local government, Ndokwa East Local Government Area for the first time at the Delta State House of Assembly in 2011, he was barely 30 years old. Many doubted his capacity to represent the people since it was a departure from the norm, but armed with his experience as a former National President of the Ndokwa National Youth Movement, Rt. Hon. Osanebi has since asserted himself in the office and has made more marks on the lives of the people than all his predecessors put together.
It's slightly over one year that the law maker was unanimously re-elected by his people to represent them again in the Delta State House of Assembly, Asaba and by dint of hard work, loyalty and intelligent, he was elected as Deputy Speaker of the House thereby making him the number four citizen of Delta State.
Before April 11, 2015, the Friday Osanebi Campaign team led by Rt. Hon. Osanebi, went round all the communities in Ndokwa East local government area with the campaign manifesto of hope, advancement and prosperity. He made promises irrespective of economic challenges ravaging the country, believing that God will always make a way where there seems to be no other.
As a philanthropist reputed for assisting the less privileged in the society, Hon. Osanebi has been in touch with his people, engaging in different empowerment programmes which has further endeared him to their heart.
How he has keyed into Governor Okowa's S.M.A.R.T Agenda:
With the most effective and virile media team headed by renowned Social Media Strategist, Comrade Agbanashi Obinne, Rt. Hon. Osanebi has been able to communicate effectively to the world his contributions to the development of Ndokwa East Constituency and Delta State as Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly.
Within a year, the "Empowerment Master" as he is fondly called has facilitated the appointment of young men and women into positions of influence and affluence, within and outside the political terrain of Delta State and his passion for human capital development, has spurred him to institutionalized a process of ensuring academic excellence in order to raise giants in various strata of human life, through his foundation, The Friday Osanebi Foundation (FOF), which gave out over N10 million to students of Anioma origin just recently in Asaba.
Amongst other things, the intent and purpose of this noble gesture was to empower the students economically in order to pay their fees, get books and be comfortable while studying. Besides this, the 'Youngest Deputy Speaker in Nigeria' has said that he is using this platform to ensure academic excellence of his people, because renewal and continual enlistment in the scholarship scheme was predicated on the student's return of yearly academic report of not less than an upper credit.
Constituency Briefing:
With an articulate media team, Rt. Hon. Osanebi understands the importance of holding regular constituency briefings with his constituents. On May 27, 2016, he convoked a constituency briefing which held at the Ozomuku Primary School playground in Ashaka. The event which was well attended by constituents from all the Wards in the Local Government afforded the Deputy Speaker the opportunity to reel out his achievements in the last one year to the admiration of his constituents.
On that very day of the briefing, over N3 million was given out to thirty market women to boost small and medium scale enterprises in the local government area. The people no doubt were satisfied with his report which was evidenced in their words of encouragement to the young legislator.
In a bid to improve on the educational infrastructure in Ndokwa East Constituency, Rt. Hon. Osanebi in addition to the schools he built all the wards of his constituency in his first missionary journey to Delta State House of Assembly; within a year - from April 11, 2015 to April 11, 2016, completed another set of six class room blocks in six wards of Ndokwa East, viz Iselegu, Ossisa, Okpai, Ibrede, Aboh, and Asaba- Ase. Hon. Osanebi has also used the instrumentality of his office to influence the construction of a Model Secondary School at Ashaka as well as the reconstruction and widening of the Beneku road which are currently ongoing at an appreciable pace.
In his avowed determination to improve the living conditions of the people, the legislator at the Delta North PDP Stakeholders meeting at Agbor on Saturday, 25th June, 2016, announced a whooping donation of N10 million to the office of the Chief Job Creation Officer in support of Governor Okowa's YAGEP & STEP Youth Empowerment Programmes.
While making the donation, Rt. Hon. Osanebi noted that the empowerment of the people should not be left in the hands of government alone especially now that funds available to government is on the decline. Not done yet, precisely on Sunday at the Christ Embassy, Beneku his home town, he again, surprised many parishioners by dolling out cheques to them to establish any micro business of their choice.
In the midst of his current achievements, Rt. Hon. Osanebi has one of the biggest tasks as his constituency remains one of the most underdeveloped in the state with several communities in the local government lacking access roads and bridges, chiefly is ever busy Kwale/Beneku road which needs a bridge, Iselegu/Onu-Aboh/Inyi road, Abala road, and several others.
Rt. Hon. Osanebi's exemplary style is an indication that the youths are ready for leadership positions as he has performed above board to the admiration of all and sundry. He has provided leadership at legislature in the absence of the Speaker and his ability to lead has never been questioned. No doubt the task ahead is daunting but I have the confidence that with Osanebi's partnership with Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, the good people of my maternal Local Government Area will experience more of the prosperity mandate of our amiable governor.
