.......Commends Journalists For Their Understanding
The Chief Press Secretary to Delta State Governor, Mr Charles Aniagwu has said that despite the economic challenges ravaging the nation's economy, Governor Okowa has completed and Commissioned numerous projects in all nooks and crannies in the state disclosing that in one year in office, Okowa has delivered the dividend of Democracy to Deltans.
Aniagwu Issued this statement today 14/07/2016 when he met with members of the Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ ) at their Correspondence Chapel in Warri stated that the economy is so bad to the extent that every states in the country rely on allocation from the federal Government to fund their budget, adding that due to the downturn of the economy, Gov Okowa has cut down cost in running the administration including his own security votes.
While Commending Journalist for their understanding and Cooperation,he said in such a trying time journalist were still steadfast and constructive in their reportage, he noted that the State Government is working assiduously in ensuring that the NUJ Secretariat in Asaba is completed, adding that the secretariat has taking a new shape which by the grace of God will be completed before the end of the year.
Speaking further, Aniagwu express displeasure over the establishment of more correspondence chapel in other areas of the state by politicians who are among the journalists "Correspondence Chapel in Warri and Asaba is enough to cover other parts of the State" he added.
He condemn in totality the rate of pipeline vandalism which has affected the nations economy negatively, he disclosed to journalist that Dr Ifeanyi Okowa has set up a committee to advocate for the immediate stop of pipelines vandalism,"The Nation's Unity is negotiable"Aniagwu Stated.
While assuring journalist of the Okowa led administration to be press friendly and supportive, he admonished the leadership of each of the correspondence chapel not to see other journalist as an alien but as a brother.
In response the Chairman of Warri Correspondence Chapel, Mr Michael Ikeogwu thanked the Chief Press Secretary for his concern towards the growth of the NUJ, he promised that the newly formed Correspondence chapel will be look into.
