As Christians around the world are set to mark the birth of Jesus Christ, Christians have been urged to reflect on the import of the season and to imbibe the quintessential virtues of Christ in their daily lives.
Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, who read the first lesson in the series of the festival of nine Lessons and Carols organized by St Philip’s Anglican Church, Asaba, advised Christians to be vigilant to understand the time of God’s visitation least they be taken unawares.
Governor Okowa, who was represented by the Commissioner for Information, Mr. Patrick Ukah, read from Genesis chapter 3: 13-15 which was centered on the fall of man from God’s glory.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Infrastructure and Housing Development, Senator Emmanuel Agwariavwodo, who read the second lesson from Isiaih 7: 10-14 warned Christians to be alert to ascertain the signs of redemption.
Other readers included, Ezinne Joy Enwa, Sir Edwin Ogidi-Gbegbaje, Miss Ufuoma Atobremu, Mr. Paul Ayodele, Sir Emmanuel Akiti, Mrs Chioma Ibezim, and Rev. Daniel Opene.
In his sermon Ven. Charles Osemene advised Christians to be vigilant to understand the time of God’s visitation least they be taken unawares and enjoined Christians to grow a healthy desire to know Christ.
In her vote of thanks, the Chairman of the Carol Planning Committee, Dr. (Mrs.) Dora Odiase, commended Governor Okowa for finding time in the face of his busy schedule to grace the occasion and prayed God to grant him many more blessings.
