The Honorable Commissioner for Special Duties (Government House, Asaba) Hon. Henry Sakpra has called for peace in the warring communities of Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh. Hon. Sakpra a graduate of Agricultural Sciences who hails from Aladja, a community in the same Local Government as Aladja, decried the avoidable loss of life, property and agricultural produce the mayhem caused.
Speaking through his Personal Assistant, Comr. Elvis Akpobi Obas, the pioneer Councilor of Ward 7 in Udu Local Government Area asked both communities to sheath their swords and embrace peace, reminding them that the committee set up by the state government to look into the ownership of the disputed land had not made its final resolutions.
"Its rather unfortunate that at a time when our dear state is still trying to regain its feet from the colossal loss of aquatic life arising from the unending destructions of oil conveying pipelines, our brothers in Ogbe-Ijoh and Aladja have deemed it right to go to war against each other, destroying lives, property and agricultural farm yields, even when the state Government has set up a committee, which is still at work, to look into the disputed land." He said.
Henry Sakpra who was once also the Chairman of Udu Local Government area, condemned the act and asked all to work together for the growth and development of both communities and by extension the state. "We condemn this act totally, as fights do no man good but brings pain to all. It is worrisome that our youths who should be ambassadors of peaceful resolution are now the ones perpetuating such heinous acts against humanity. I by this call on all, to sheath their swords and work together to see to it that our areas are not robbed of developments" he concluded.
