RIVERS STATE GOVERNMENT ALLEDGES VOTERS INTIMIDATION
The Rivers State Government is alarmed by widespread cases of intimidation of voters, by APC thugs in fake military uniforms on election day. There are also reports of massive distribution by the APC, of fake result sheets to Khana, Bonny, Andoni, and other local government areas of the State.
We have seen so far, a completely messy logistical nightmare, as voters seem unable to differentiate between fake and real INEC documents. It is a setback for democracy in Nigeria, if the INEC could so openly and brazenly collude with the APC to rob the people of Rivers State the right to choose their leaders.
The Rivers State Government urges the people to continue to resist intimidation by the APC thugs, and the fake documents they circulate. Wherever there are fake documents or faulty card readers , there should be no elections. Wherever the APC thugs arrive to intimidate peaceful voters, stand your ground. The government and people of Rivers State will only accept the outcome of a free, fair and credible process.
Signed.
Dr Austin Tam-George, Commissioner for Information and Communication, Rivers State.
